Higher Ground Family Learning Center

Not sure what Higher Ground is?  Higher Ground Learning Center is a fun, free activity for the whole family and is designed to offer encouragement, support, and a chance to make new friends!  Classes are offered once a week and continue for 8 weeks.  Join us for a home cooked dinner and conversation, followed by the class of your choice.  Kids (4-11) and teens each have their own exciting program.  A staffed nursery is provided.  At the end of the evening, teens and adults may “shop” at the Higher Ground Store, using points earned in class.  Kids have their own special shopping table.  Classes may include: parenting, stress reduction, healthy lifestyle, financial fitness, gardening, crafting or life skills.  There are no income guidelines to meet.

Classes offered for both areas this fall may include: Parenting, Relationship Building, Women’s & Men’s Bible Studies, Financial Fitness, Healthy Lifestyles/Nutrition, Crafting, and Job Skills.

A Nursery is provided for children 0-2 years old and classes are offered for students through high school.

We can always use more volunteers to help with this great ministry.  If you are interested in volunteering at Higher Ground Family Learning Center or for more information please contact Deb Booher at Love INC 779-1888.

In order to follow current best practices and mandates, regarding covid prevention, please see the following guidelines.
Preregistration will be required; people can join throughout but they will have to call the Love Inc office to register in advance.
Food will be prepared by kitchen volunteers and packed into “to go” boxes.
Participants will be assigned into groups of 9 or less and assigned a classroom with a facilitator. Groups will go directly to that room and remain throughout the evening. Boxed meals will be brought to the room. Class material will be provided, either by face to face presentation or online each class room will have a facilitator.
Homework and points will be given. Shopping will be done through a catalog. (Items selected one week, packed in the love Inc pole building and delivered the following week).
Due to increased sanitizing procedures, room usage will be minimized. There will be designated bathrooms and entry and exit paths and all other areas will be off limits.
Classes will be dismissed at separate times so families can get to their cars or their ride home.
In accordance with current mandates, masks will be worn at all times, by everyone, except when eating.
Social distancing will be maintained. First Baptist staff have identified four meeting areas that are large enough to accommodate up to ten people, while maintaining social distancing. Effectively capping our attendance at forty.
Because of these guidelines all children and youth programming will be off site.
All subject to changing conditions, mandates, and best practices.
